✸ Why "Zoratorios"?

Zoratorios started in 2021. At that time, I was sharing an apartment with Alex', immersed in my second year of photography studies in Montpellier .

I was sitting there on the couch, determined to come up with a stylish username for my Instagram account. I wanted it to reflect me. So, the idea of ​​mixing the letters of my first and last name, Lorenzo De Freitas Hillion, came to me, and Zoratorios was born.

Over the next few months, it became like a safe place where I felt free to experiment. I discovered a particular taste for visual photography and I also experimented with engraving , sculpture , illustration , writing ... and all the mediums that could nourish my artistic expression. So, it became my artist name.

In the summer of 2022 , I registered Zoratorios as a trademark while continuing my studies.

✸ What was the biggest turning point in your creative journey? 

My creativity has always been expressed. As a child, I already loved to paint, draw, and build with my hands. I remember very well a DIY book that I adored and that must always be there, in my things. Then I discovered photography, and The best decision I could have made was choosing to study it.

In June 2023 , I have to design and create an entire exhibition to present to a jury for my diploma. The choice of theme is free. March arrives and my project takes shape. I am in love, that is my common thread. I have 107 days left and I will talk about Love. 

My exhibition Bonjour Amour is, to date, the biggest turning point in my artistic direction. It is the starting point, the Birth of a new me, the offshoot of a project that was beginning to see the light of day. Since then, all of this has inhabited me. Creating inspires me.

✸ Why engrave mirrors?

The mirror medium emerged during the design of my exhibition. I wanted the viewer to be able to immerse themselves in their reflection, their self-esteem. A moment of introspection facing themselves, an invitation to be sensitive, Together. 

This first experiment entitled "Your love as a reflection of my Soul" was the beginning of my infatuation with the mirror. Transforming some of my drawings into a mirror engraving allows me to include the person who is looking at themselves in my universe. It's a bit like another dimension , open to all those who wish to take a step into my sensitive world.
