✸ Why "Zoratorios"?
It all started in 2021. At the time, I was living in a shared apartment, immersed in my second year of photography studies in Montpellier.
Sitting on the sofa, determined to find a nickname that reflected who I am , the idea of combining the letters of my first and last name, Lorenzo De Freitas Hillion, came to me. That's how Zoratorios was born.
Over the months, this name became much more than just a pseudonym. It became a safe place , a space where I experimented without limits: fine art photography, engraving, sculpture, illustration, writing … Everything that could nourish my artistic expression.
In the summer of 2022 , I registered Zoratorios as a brand name , while continuing my studies.
✸ What was the biggest turning point in your creative journey?
My creativity has always been expressed. Even as a child, I loved to paint, draw, and build with my hands. I remember very well a DIY book that I adored and which must still be somewhere among my things .
In June 2023 , I have to design and create an entire exhibition to present to a jury for my degree. The theme is open, and my project is taking shape. I'm in love; that's my central theme. I have 107 days left, and I will be talking about Love .
My exhibition "Bonjour Amour" is, to date, the biggest turning point in my artistic direction. It's the starting point, the birth of a new me, the seedling of a project that was beginning to take shape. Since then, this sensitivity has stayed with me. Creating is my driving force.
✸ Why engrave mirrors?
The idea of the mirror was born with my exhibition. I wanted the viewer to be able to immerse themselves in their reflection. A moment of introspection in the face of oneself, an invitation to be sensitive, Together.
This first experiment, entitled "Your love as a reflection of my soul" , marked the beginning of a real fascination with mirrors. Transforming my drawings into engravings on mirrors means including the person looking at themselves in my world.
It is offering an open door to another dimension , a window to a world where everyone can recognize and (re)discover themselves.
